You know you have fertility issues when......

I took these from a few message boards that I read, thought I would share.  Funny and highly accurate. (Kinda sad)

You refer to your doctor as your "RE" and no one else has a clue what you are talking about.
Your months are split it two halves- before "O" and before "AF".
You know more about the male reproductive system than most men!
You pee on a stick more days than not.
You look like a junkie from all the blood draws.
It's no longer a big deal to have transvaginal ultrasound
It no longer bothers you to inject needles into that tender tummy.
You actually know your ovarian reserve.
RE bills are added to regular bills each month, there are so many.
You feel comfortable saying "cervical mucus"out loud.
You have more needles in the fridge than food You go to your doctors on a Saturday or Sunday
When your credit card statement has a charge for $4,000 for sperm vials.
You hope to O...meaning ovulate and not orgasm

Moving along nicely

Had blood work done today and got good news.  My E2 is rising nicely and I believe it was 62 or 69.  Nurse said that was a good # and I am responding well to Follistim.  They increased my daily dose to 225 units for Friday, Saturday and Sunday and then back in Monday morning for another blood draw.  I am definitely feeling my ovaries growing, hoping for several large mature eggs by time of IUI.  Trying to remain positive and hopeful (but trying not to get my hopes up).

Hoping 3rd times a charm???

I am on cycle day 3 today and doing my first IUI with injectables cycle.  Today my Estradiol level was at 29, FSH was 7 and lining was 3.7   I have 5 follicles on one side and 6 on the other.  Doctor seemed happy with these #'s and I was within normal range for my age.  Just got done with my first night of Follistim 150 units, and will do another 150 tomorrow night.  Bloodwork to be done Friday morning to check my Estradiol level again.  Here's to a successful cycle with a healthy baby at the end.  I am praying that God hears my prayers and that this IUI with injectables cycle is my miracle protocol to make me a Mom.

Thank the troops

Veterans Day is fast approaching and Shutterfly is offering a great promotion. Their goal is to send a thank you card to every American hero. Over 1.5 million troops serve our great nation. Many of them will be overseas, in harm’s way, and away from their families over this holiday season. All you have to do to help is go Here and select a design, add a photo or short note and Shutterfly will do the rest!  They will print and ship your card to the troops free of charge.

Let's say thank you and we are thinking of you over this holiday season!!!

Link up with From Mrs To Mama

This Weeks Questions: Careers/Your "Job"
1. Tell us what you studied in college. Is your job now related to what you studied?
I only went to a community college for a short amount of time but didnt receive a degree.  For 9 years I was in banking but I knew that wasnt "my thing".  I actually am now a 911 Telecommunicator.  I love it and am going on my 9th year.  We take all emergency and non emergency phone calls for the county I live in.  I dispatch police, sheriff, ambulance, fire, animal control, you name it we do it.

2. Tell us what your everyday job looks like.
I work overnights so you NEVER know what you will get.  Some nights it is so quiet you could hear a pin drop and other times it is so busy I cant get up to use the restroom.  Mostly it stays quieter during the winter months and pretty steady in the summer.  Wednesday Fridays and Saturdays are generally busier but not always.

3. Do you have a picture of you at work? Show us.
I actually dont have a picture of myself at work besides my id because it isnt allowed.  Sorry ladies

4. In 10 years, what do you see yourself doing? Same thing? More? Tell us.
Probably same as now.  For the most part I love my job, but it can be very stressful and working overnights is hard on family life.  I make decent money and get a lot of time off work so I most likely will be there till I retire.

5. Tell us what you have learned, and what {if any} recommendations you may have for those looking to go into the field you are in.
I have learned that a lot of people are in serious need of help.  You would be shocked to hear what I have heard in my 9 years.  Everything from murders and suicides to my electric wheelchair is dead and I cant reach to plug it in, can the police come over and do it?
As far as others going into my line of work, it takes a certain kind of person to be able to do our job.  We get cussed out on a nightly basis and can never yell back.  If you can deal with no breaks, stuck in your chair, people yelling and screaming at you and taking calls where babies arent breathing, then go for it.  Like I said, we are a weird bunch. LOL

Here is one of my favorite poems which kind of describes my world:

Who Am I?

Dispatcher Poem

Who Am I?

I am the voice that calms the mother
breathing life into her infant son.
I am the invisible hand that holds and
comforts the elderly man who woke up
and found his wife of 50 years had
passed away during the night.
I am the friend who talks the disgruntled
teenager out of ending her own life.
I sent help when you had your first
automobile accident.

I am the one who tries to obtain the information
from callers to ensure that the scene is safe for
those I dispatch to emergencies - all the while
anticipating the worst and hoping for the best.

I am the psychologist who readily adapts by
language and tone of voice to serve the needs
of my callers with compassion and understanding.
I am the ears that listen to the needs of all
those I serve.

I have heard the screams of faceless people
I will never meet nor forget.
I have cried at the atrocities of mankind and
rejoiced at the miracle of life.

I was there, though unseen, by my comrades
in the field during the most trying emergencies.
I have tried to visualize the scene to coincide
with the voices I have heard.

I am usually not privy to the outcome of
the call, and so I wonder...

I am the one who works weekends, strange
shifts and holidays. Children do not say they
want my job when they grow up.
Yet, I am at this vocation by choice.
Those I help do not call back to say thank you.
Still, there is comfort in the challenge, integrity
and the purpose of my employment.

I am thankful to provide such a meaningful service.
I am a mother, a father, sister, brother, son or
a daughter.
I am here when you need me and still here when you don't.
My office is never empty, and the work here
is never done. I am always on call. The training is
strenuous, demanding and endless.
No two days at work are ever the same.

Who Am I?
I am an emergency dispatcher and I am proud.

Christmas is coming, are you ready?

Christmas is by far my FAVORITE time of the year.  I love the holidays and watching all the kids get excited about Santa Claus.  My birthday is right before Christmas (which I actually hate) so it seems like the day after Thanksgiving everything gets really busy and stays that way until the New Year.  My immediate family has actually stopped buying gifts for each other, but we all get together and eat, talk and spend time together.  That by far, is the best!
The planning for the holidays actually starts this time of year for me.  I am always excited to see what holiday cards Shutterfly has to offer.  I send out every year to all my in town and out of town family.  The photo cards are my favorite.  That way the out of towners can get a glimpse into my families life and how we look.  I especially love receiving the cards also.
This year I will probably be sending out the "Jack Frosted Wishes" card.  I love the black and white and the blue trim.  And I especially enjoy that the picture is the main feature of the card.  I prefer cards that have the picture as the main feature and not all the writing or sayings.
Everyone go and pick out your Christmas cards from Shutterfly, you wont be disappointed. They also have some great special offers currently available.

One person will win $50 off total Shutterfly order (does not include shipping & cannot be combined with any other promos).  Giveaway ends October 19, 2012 at 11 pm CST.  Winner will be randomly drawn.

To enter, leave a comment on this blog post with a holiday/Christmas card design you like at Shutterfly.

Long Live Summer 2012

Summer is my favorite time of the year.  I love the sun, hot weather and spending time in the water.  This week I celebrated 10 wonderful days off from work.   My husband and I visited Six Flags St Louis and went to the waterpark and theme park.  Any time I can get away from everyday reality and escape, I am all for it.  And anytime I can possibly win a trip and go for FREE, well I am definately in for that.  Shutterfly has a great promotion going on right now.  Check out this link

Small Update

I am a bad blogger and I know it.  I havent been wanting to express my feelings because some of them arent very nice.  So just a quick update in bullets:

  • We got our license in the mail for foster care.  We are officially ready for kiddos
  • We have 1 vial of donor sperm left and I am terrified to use it for IUI for fear that it wont work and we will have nothing left
  • I want to do IVF more than anything but dont have the money
  • My heart hurts
